Websites for Corby businesses

NN17's old 'Little Scotland' — the Corby Cube on George Street, the revived Old Village market, and a £25m Towns Fund mid-build.

Corby is NN17 and NN18 — a New Town designated in 1950 around the old Stewarts & Lloyds steelworks, once nicknamed 'Little Scotland' for the thousands of Scots who came down to work the ironstone from the 1930s onwards. The Corby Cube opened in 2010 on George Street, with a 450-seat theatre, a public library and the council chamber all in one building. Up the hill, the old village keeps its 1226 charter roots — the Old Village market now runs there with bakers, florists and a coffee roaster. East Carlton Country Park sits a few miles out, and the old Rockingham Motor Speedway site is a few miles the other way. Love Corby, the not-for-profit local business consortium, keeps a directory of the independents.

Working with Corby

Most of the day-to-day trade is small — tradesmen on the Earlstrees and Weldon industrial estates, a long strip of independent cafés and takeaways on George Street and around the Cube, and the traders inside the revived Old Village market (bakers, coffee roasters, florists). Adrenaline Alley on Priors Haw Road pulls 60,000 visits a year out of 120,000 square feet of skatepark and has trained Olympic BMX Freestyle athletes. Love Corby runs a not-for-profit directory for the independents. The Corby Sixth Form on Oakley Road opened in 2023 as part of the £25m Towns Fund, and the Oakley Road link road to the railway station finished its main build in October 2025. Most of the rest is trades, salons and one- or two-person firms on the two NN postcodes.

Every Corby site is hand-coded, mobile-first, and shipped on its own domain. There's nothing for you to maintain — hosting, SSL, backups, updates and small content edits are all in the £25/month plan. You'll deal directly with me from brief to launch, by email or WhatsApp, in plain English.

Real Corby small businesses, not stock photos

Every Corby brief lands somewhere on the same map of shops, salons, trades and indie operators. Here are some of the real Corby businesses I've researched while writing this page — the kind of place a clean £25/month site is built for.

Some Corby independents we'd happily sit next to
  • Adrenaline Alley

    Europe's largest urban sports venue

On Priors Haw Road (NN17 5PH); 120,000 sq ft of skatepark, 60,000 visits a year, hosts an American-style diner and has trained Olympic BMX Freestyle athletes.

  • The Old Village Market

Revived charter-era market in Corby Old Village

Run by a small group of independent women traders — bakers, coffee roasters and florists — bringing a market back to Corby's 1226 Henry III charter village.

  • Corby Town F.C. (The Steelmen)

Non-league football club at Steel Park

Plays in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands as of 2025/26; named after the old Stewarts & Lloyds steelworks.

Why these industries cluster here
  • Steel and heavy industry heritage

Stewarts & Lloyds built the integrated ironstone and steel works here in 1934–35, drawing tens of thousands of Scottish and Irish workers and earning the town the 'Little Scotland' nickname that locals still trade on.

  • Logistics and distribution

Corby's Enterprise Zone status from the 1980s pulled logistics and distribution operators onto the Earlstrees and Weldon industrial estates, which remain the main employer base after the steel closure of 1979–81.

  • Action sports and leisure

Adrenaline Alley on Priors Haw Road is Europe's largest urban sports venue at 120,000 sq ft, hosts an American-style diner, and has been a training base for Team GB BMX Freestyle athletes going into the Olympics.

  • Independent retail and market trade

Corby's market rights go back to a 1226 Henry III charter; the Old Village market has been revived by a small group of independent women traders with bakers, a coffee roaster and florists, alongside the longer-running strip of independents on George Street around the Cube.

The main construction on the Oakley Road link road between Corby town centre and the railway station, a key £25m Towns Fund project, completed in October 2025 (https://corbytownsfund.co.uk/towns-fund-projects/corby-station-link-road/).

FAQs

Corby web design — common questions

How much does a website cost for a small business in Corby?

+

I charge a flat £25 a month with no setup fee. Hosting, SSL, backups and software updates are all in, and the studio registers the domain in your name. Most tradesmen, cafés and salons in NN17 and NN18 end up paying £300 a year all in, and you can cancel any month.

Do you build sites for businesses in Weldon, Oakley and the Old Village?

+

Yes — anywhere in NN17 or NN18. I work with trades, cafés and the kind of independent traders showing up at the Old Village market. The £25/month plan and the 1-2 week turnaround are the same whether you're on the Earlstrees estate, the Kingswood side of town or down the Oakley Road corridor.

Will my site rank on Google for searches in Corby?

+

I include basic on-page SEO — sensible page titles, descriptions, fast mobile loads, a clean sitemap — but I don't sell SEO packages, content marketing, blogs or Google Ads. If you want someone chasing rankings, that's a different conversation and a different fee.

Can you set up and run my Google Business Profile as well?

+

No — and that's deliberate. I don't take on Google Business Profile work, SEO retainers, social media or paid ads. I just build the site, keep it hosted, and do small edits the same day when you need them. The £25/month plan is just the website.

Do you do SEO, blogs, or Google Business Profile?

+

No — and that's deliberate. The £25/month plan is for a clean, quick website on its own domain, with the basic on-page SEO sorted (sensible page titles, descriptions, fast loads). It is not a marketing package. If you want someone to actively manage your Google Business Profile, run a blog, or chase rankings, this isn't the right service — I'd rather say so upfront.
