Websites for Lewisham businesses

Lewisham is a 1960s shopping centre, a century-old high street market, and a 17-acre rebuild at Loampit Vale, all in one SE13 town centre.

Lewisham town centre sits where the DLR, the South Eastern rail line and the buses all meet up, on a south-east London stretch that mixes a 1960s shopping centre with a long Victorian high street. Loampit Vale runs north of the centre into Hither Green and Ladywell, Lewisham High Street carries the long-running outdoor market, and the River Ravensbourne cuts through the riverside quarter. Most of the cafés, salons, barbers and tradespeople in SE13 work out of the centre, and the October 2025 Landsec planning approval now has the council and the traders looking at a 17-acre rebuild of the shopping-centre site.

Working with Lewisham

Lewisham Council's 2021 High Street Survey tracked the mix of independent and chain businesses on the high street, and the centre came out independent-heavy, with very few nationals on the high street itself. The Lewisham Market on the High Street is run by the council and has been trading for over a century, the Lewisham Shopping Centre brings in the chain anchors like Matalan and Iceland, and Loampit Vale is a small parade of takeaways and trade units running off the roundabout. Most of the SE13 economy is genuinely small — cafés, salons, takeaways, tradesmen and a few long-standing independents like The Fox & Firkin on Lewisham High Street and Maggie's Cafe on Lewisham Road. With around 1,700 new homes now approved on the shopping-centre site, footfall and demand for small services are set to grow.

Every Lewisham site is hand-coded, mobile-first, and shipped on its own domain. There's nothing for you to maintain — hosting, SSL, backups, updates and small content edits are all in the £25/month plan. You'll deal directly with me from brief to launch, by email or WhatsApp, in plain English.

Real Lewisham small businesses, not stock photos

Every Lewisham brief lands somewhere on the same map of shops, salons, trades and indie operators. Here are some of the real Lewisham businesses I've researched while writing this page — the kind of place a clean £25/month site is built for.

Why these industries cluster here
  • Independent retail

Lewisham Council's 2021 High Street Survey mapped independent and chain businesses on the high street, and the centre came out independent-heavy with very few nationals along the High Street itself.

  • Street markets

Lewisham's market offer on the High Street has been at the centre of community life for over a century, and the council still runs the outdoor market directly through its Markets Service.

  • Small trades and services

Loampit Vale and the side streets off the High Street are a parade of takeaways, salons, barbers, cafés and trade units — the Lewisham Shopping Centre's own store mix sits on top of that.

Lewisham Council approved Landsec's 17-acre town centre masterplan in October 2025 — around 1,700 new homes, a minimum of 20% affordable housing, 445 co-living units and 660 student rooms, alongside a rebuilt shopping centre and a new park on the rooftop (sources: ladywell-live.org, quod.com).

FAQs

Lewisham web design — common questions

Do you work with businesses across Lewisham and the SE13 area?

+

Yes — anywhere in SE13, including Lewisham town centre, Hither Green, Ladywell and the bits in between. I build sites for cafés, barbers, tradesmen and sole traders across the postcode. The £25/month plan and the 1-2 week turnaround are the same for everyone, regardless of which bit of SE13 you sit in.

What's actually included in the £25 a month?

+

A hand-coded website on your own domain (registered in your name), hosting, SSL, backups, software updates, and basic on-page SEO like sensible page titles, descriptions and fast loads. Small edits — a new phone number, a price change, a swapped photo, a new line of text — are included and usually turned back the same day. There's no setup fee, no contract, and you can cancel any month.

Can you run my Google Business Profile or do my SEO?

+

No, and that's deliberate. I don't do Google Business Profile setup, SEO ranking work, blogs, paid ads, or social media management — the £25 plan is just the website itself. The basics of on-page SEO (titles, descriptions, fast loads) are included. Anything beyond that, I'm happy to point you at someone who does it properly.

I'm a tradesman or a one-person café in Lewisham — is this the right size of job for you?

+

It's exactly the kind of work I do. A single page, or a short few-page site, with your phone number, an address, a map link, a price list or a menu. Looks right on a phone, loads fast, and gives you a link you can put on your van, your window or your Instagram without wincing.

How long does it take to go live?

+

Once we've agreed the brief, 1-2 weeks to a live link on your own domain. Smaller sites (a single-page trader or a one-page café) often turn around faster. There's no project manager and no committee — it's just me, so things move.
