Websites for Norwich businesses

Norwich Castle still anchors the market square, and the Lanes behind it still hold more than 300 independent shops.

Norwich is a working city of around 145,000 people with a medieval core that hasn't stopped being useful. Norwich Castle and the market sit at the centre, The Forum a couple of streets south holds the Millennium Library, and the Norwich Lanes — a tight knot of medieval streets — still pack in over 300 independent shops, named by American Express as one of the UK's top ten hotspots for independents. Castle Quarter covers five floors just off the castle, and the city's compact, walkable, and full of small operators who've been on the same street for years.

Working with Norwich

The independent scene is the spine of the Norwich economy. The Norwich Lanes association lists over 300 shops on its directory; Norwich BID says it works on behalf of more than 700 city businesses and runs Norwich Wine Week and the Summer Sessions. On St Giles Street, Catherines Coffee Lounge has been pulling regulars in for years; in Castle Quarter, Alchemista is one of the food traders the council lists on its food business merits register. Norwich Market is one of the oldest open-air markets in the country and is the subject of a £740,000 council-led revamp plan announced in January 2025. Castle Quarter itself was sold to private clients of Maritime Capital in January 2026. Most of these operators are sole traders or small family firms — they need a clean, fast site on their own domain and someone who'll swap a photo the same day.

Every Norwich site is hand-coded, mobile-first, and shipped on its own domain. There's nothing for you to maintain — hosting, SSL, backups, updates and small content edits are all in the £25/month plan. You'll deal directly with me from brief to launch, by email or WhatsApp, in plain English.

Real Norwich small businesses, not stock photos

Every Norwich brief lands somewhere on the same map of shops, salons, trades and indie operators. Here are some of the real Norwich businesses I've researched while writing this page — the kind of place a clean £25/month site is built for.

Norwich BID says it works on behalf of more than 700 local businesses in the city centre.

FAQs

Norwich web design — common questions

Do you build sites for businesses in NR1, NR2 and NR3?

+

Yes — anywhere in the NR postcodes, from the city centre out to the suburbs. I work with cafés, tradesmen, salons and small retailers across Norwich, and the £25/month plan and 1-2 week turnaround are the same whether you're in NR1, NR3 or out near the university.

Will my Norwich site show up on Google?

+

I include basic on-page SEO with every site — sensible page titles, descriptions and fast loads. I don't sell SEO, link building, Google Business Profile management or content marketing. If you need any of those, I'd rather tell you up front than sell you something I don't do.

I'm in the Lanes and only need a one-page site. Is the £25/month still the right plan?

+

Yes. The plan is flat regardless of size — one page or five, same fee. A single-page site is faster to build and easier to maintain, but the monthly cost and the same-day edits work exactly the same way.

Can you help me apply for a stall in Norwich Market?

+

No — and that's deliberate. I don't do business strategy, council liaison, or stall allocation. What I do is build a clean, fast site on your own domain that tells customers what you do and lets them call or message you. Everything else is a different specialism.

What about setting up my Google Business Profile?

+

No — that's yours to own. It's free, it's tied to your phone number, and you don't want a third party in the middle of it. Once your site is live I'll happily link to it from the site, but I won't claim, run or post to it.
